Madeira - A wine resembling sherry traditionally produced in the Madeira Islands, a chain of 8 islands off the northwest coast of Africa.
Malibu - A jamaican coconut flavored rum liqueur.
Mandarine Napoleon - A French brandy-based liqueur that is flavored with tangerine skins. Grand Marnier is widely preferred to Mandarine Napoleon.
Maraschino - A very sweet white cherry liqueur made from the marasca cherry of dalmatia, Yugoslavia. This liqueur is sometimes used in sours in place of sugar.
Maraschino cherries - Specially treated fruit made from a variety of cherries. Pitted and then macerated in flavored sugar. Popular as a garnish or ingredient in many drinks.
Marie brizard - French producer of high quality liqueurs.
Martini - Martini is an Italian vermouth, named after the Martini & Rossi distillery in Turin.
Mash - Grain or malt that is ground or crushed before being steeped. Used in brewing beer and in the fermentation of whiskey.
Mead - Beverage made by fermenting honey, water and yeast with flavorings such as herbs, spices or flowers.
Metaxa - A strong, sharp-tasting, aromatic Greek brandy.
Midori - A sweet and syrupy melon liqueur that comes in a green bottle. It is close to banana in both taste and aroma. It is the most popular melon liqueur.
Milk - Milk most often means the nutrient fluid produced by the mammary glands of female mammals. It provides the primary source of nutrition for newborns before they are able to digest more diverse foods. It is also processed into dairy products such as cream, butter, yoghurt, ice-cream, gelato, cheese, casein, whey protein, lactose, dried milk, and many other food-additive and industrial products.
Mist - A glass packed with crushed ice to which spirits are added, usually straight.
Mokatika - Coffee liqueur.
Muddle - To mash or crush ingredients with a spoon or muddler (a rod with a flattened end).
Mull - A warm drink containing wine, sugar, spices, and possibly a liquor. Also a verb meaning to warm, spice, and sweeten, a technique that is applied to both wine and ale.
Myer's rum - A famous line of high-quality dark Jamaican rums.
